_ABOUT

  Sebastian Kommer is a Designer raised in the southern part of Germany next to the lake of Constance and the Alps. He studied Industrial Design at the Muthesius University in Kiel. Futhermore he studied temporarily at the Design Academy Eindhoven and the Burg Giebichenstein in Halle. After his graduation he worked for Lukas Wegwerth in Berlin.
Back in northern Germany he established his own practice besides doing a Master at the HFBK Hamburg (Class: Open Design by Konstantin Grcic) and working as teaching assistant at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design.

  I’m interested in systems, showing components and recombining them to create new opportunities. I aim to look very close at parts and processes in order to understand, reveal and rethink the things we do.
My passion belongs to the purity and quality of materials and the following processes - how things are made. Likewise, I try to connect tradition and modernity, nature and industry, man-made and machine-made. The fascination behind all these systems drives my daily work.
