TWIRL combines traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. The side parts are made of machine-processed stainless steel sheet, which is produced with millimetre precision. The seat made of woven rushes encloses the seat frame and the stainless steel parts. Only the art of rush weaving, which is passed down from generation to generation, holds the individual components together.The work is characterised by the supposed contrasts of our time, the contrast of materials and production methods. TWIRL tries to build a bridge in an exemplary way and combines the respective advantages in one object. We have to think tradition and modernity, handicraft and industry, man-made and machine-made together and design them in harmony.
